Branching Out...

*Exotic Tiger*

Confetti: Fashionista

Spoiled by Wet N Wild: Visually Slimming

I'm usually a plain polish type gyal, but my latest hobby (or should I say obsession) has been nail art and designs. I spend hours watching youtube videos and redoing my nails so I will share them (even the horrible ones) with you. You are welcome. :-p

<---- This is one of my favourite designs that is very easy to do yourself and looks great with any colours you choose.

Are You Star Quality?

CONFETTI LONG WEARING NAIL COLOR:  The Red Carpet

Just in time for the weekend. I remember when I use to avoid red polishes and lipsticks like the plague! I use to think they were too loud for me but I was determined to at least give it a try. Now I have so many that I don't even think I will ever get to wear them all. What actually really gave me the push to get into reds was when  Madmen first premiered in 2007. Just the whole 60's look got me excited to try.
Did I already tell you guys how much I'm loving Contetti?!

Are you afraid to wear red? Here is how I make it work for me:
  • Keep the color palate of clothing neutral and patterns basic (no 'matchy-matchy'! lol)
  • Vintage inspired clothing always work great with red lips and nails because it just looks like "it belongs together".
  • Think of red as an accessory all by itself and try not to add  too much. Except, for parties and late nights, then by all means go all out!
  • Understanding that not all reds go with my skin-tone. For my warm skin-tone I look for reds with an orange base or that are so deep you can hardly tell. I do the same for lip color. Anything with orange base or sort of look coral looks good on me.
  • Wear it with confidence! This may sound cheesy but if you feel great about your look and embrace it then others will see and appreciate it too. So just let it shine through!

It's Out Of This World!

CONFETTI Long Wearing Color: MOONSTRUCK

This is by far, my favorite of the bunch. Finally, a neutral looking color that goes great with my skin-tone! This may sound like a weird thing to say about nail polish, but... this is a versatile color. Work friendly but at the same time can be flipped to look rock-starish depending on the outfit and accessories.

I know that in most of the pics it comes off purple but it actually has a more grayish brown tone. So I tried to  capture it under different lightings.

For Nail Polish Junkies: My New Found Love

CONFETTI: Long Wearing Nail Color

I found this brand in CVS a couple months ago and fell in love immediately. Not only were they on sale for $1.99 (who needs a $10 polish that you are gonna remove in a few days?! madness) but the color selection was ripe for fall. I bought these three pictured here to test out. My sister asked me why I needed three whole bottles to just do a  *test*, with that accusing look of hers. But whateva, I wish people would stop judging and quit with trying to make me feel guilty about my obses... I mean hobby.

I'm not sure if these are really 'long wearing' per-say, but with a really good base and top coat I got my usual full week's wear with one touch-up in-between.  I'm also happy that I keep a bottle of nail polish thinner on hand because these can become sticky after just two uses. Everyone who's into nail polishes should keep a bottle close by. It only takes a couple of drops to restore the normal consistency of a polish that's been opened one too many times.

Anyways... about CONFETTI: I LOVE the brushes! They have a slight curve which allows for a much easier application with less mess to clean off the  cuticles, palms, your thighs (I said don't judge me) or wherever you might get polish. Only one of the colors that I've bought so far didn't have this type of brush and I'm really hoping it is the oddball of the family and not the other way around. This tiny little detail makes my life so much easier. Well...not really, but you know what I mean :)

RK's Silver Imposter

RUBY KISSES: Silver
Silver is actually the farthest thing from my mind when I see this color. If I had to name it, it would be Shimmery Pearl because that's what it looks like.

What I do like about this is that it's faint enough to wear over a french manicure and still be able to see it.  I like to use a thin coat of this to tone down some of my bright colors  (esp. glitter polishes).    Or to freshen up an application that I'm bored with. Three coats were used for this pic.

So Juicy!

MILANI NAIL LACQUER: #1 Hottest Pink

This is my absolute favorite color of this summer, heck the whole year! I got this last fall and I'm already half way through the bottle. Which is strange for me since I'm always buying nail polishes.

The pictures doesn't do it justice: It has a shimmery hue to it and makes me think of dew-drop covered roses.

Tip: It's best to start with very thin coat until you get use to the consistency of this polish. My first application was a disaster but it's all good now

Nail Junkie

SINFULCOLORS Professional: Nail Junkie: #927

Who doesn't need a little sparkle every once in a while? I really love greens and blues, and this is a prefect blend of both. I applied  four coats using a very simple fade technique. I prefer this look for non-solid colors. Makes it look a little more interesting; don't u think?

With solid colors, it's easy to do a quick design to create a unique look. But when it comes to glitter/sparkle colors, it looks either blah or too much...
